Overview

BENZPACK® CDRY™ is manufactured from thermally activated montmorillonite clay. It operates through physical adsorption, capturing moisture within the micropore network of the clay matrix through Van der Waals forces. The material does not dissolve, does not liquefy, and undergoes no chemical transformation throughout its service life.

CDRY™ is certified nitrite-free and DMF-free. These are the two compliance pillars for EU, UK, and North American regulated market access. It is the only activated clay desiccant certified simultaneously under DIN 55473, MIL-D-3464E Class I and II, REACH, RoHS, and IPC/JEDEC J-STD-033C.

Science and Mechanism

CDRY™ operates through physical adsorption. Water vapour molecules are captured within the micropore lattice of the activated clay matrix through Van der Waals intermolecular forces. The clay does not dissolve, does not liquefy, and releases no by-products. The sachet retains its solid structural form throughout its entire service life.

The activated montmorillonite clay has a specific surface area exceeding 200 m²/g. This enables high-capacity moisture capture at humidity levels as low as 5% RH, where silica gel products begin losing effectiveness.

Nitrite-free status matters because nitrogen-based compounds are electrochemically active. In sealed packaging with trace moisture, nitrites initiate galvanic corrosion on copper circuit traces, stain precision steel surfaces, and accelerate oxidation on aluminium and magnesium alloys. CDRY™ contains zero nitrogen compounds, ensuring complete chemical inertness across all metal substrate types.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why is nitrite-free certification critical for electronics packaging?

Nitrogen compounds are electrochemically active. In sealed packaging with trace moisture, nitrites initiate galvanic corrosion on copper circuit traces and stain precision metal surfaces. CDRY contains zero nitrogen compounds, making it the only safe choice for use alongside bare PCBs, copper components, and pharmaceutical-grade materials.

How do I calculate the correct number of desiccant units?

One Desiccant Unit (DU) per DIN 55473 adsorbs 3.0g at 20% RH and 6.0g at 40% RH. For CDRY, approximately 28 to 33g provides 1 DU. Contact our team for a complimentary calculation based on your package volume, humidity at sealing, and packing materials.

Is CDRY validated for use inside Moisture Barrier Bags per J-STD-033C?

Yes. CDRY is fully validated for use within aluminium-laminate MBBs per IPC/JEDEC J-STD-033C, delivering a complete compliant MSD packaging system for MSL 1 through MSL 5a device classifications.

Can CDRY be thermally regenerated?

Activated clay can be regenerated at 150 to 175 degrees Celsius for 2 to 3 hours. For DIN 55473, MIL-D-3464E, or J-STD-033C applications, fresh factory-sealed units are recommended per packaging cycle to maintain compliance traceability.

What are the shelf life and storage requirements?

Store in original sealed packaging below 30 degrees Celsius and 60% RH. Shelf life is 24 months. Once opened, use sachets within the same working shift.
