Why Factory Relocation Packaging Is Not the Same as Shipping a Single Machine

Moving an entire production line — 15 CNC machines, 3 press brakes, a paint booth, conveyor systems, electrical panels, chiller units, and 200 meters of piping — is not 15 separate packaging jobs multiplied. It is a logistics engineering project that must be planned as a single coordinated operation. Every machine must be packed in a sequence that allows the destination factory to reinstall in reverse order. Every cable, pipe, and duct must be labeled with a code that maps back to the original connection point. Every pallet must be sized to stack efficiently inside the truck or container.

BENZ Packaging provides complete turnkey factory relocation packaging — from the moment your machines are switched off to the moment the last crate is loaded onto the truck. We have relocated entire automotive press shops, CNC machining lines, injection moulding cells, food processing lines, and pharmaceutical cleanrooms across India and internationally.

What We Relocate

Complete CNC Machining Lines

Entire VMC/HMC lines, turning cells, and grinding stations. We follow a reverse-installation sequence: disconnect, drain, label, pack, palletize. Every tool holder, fixture, and measuring instrument is catalogued with a QR code that links to its reinstallation position on the shop floor layout drawing.

Automotive Press Shops

Hydraulic and mechanical press lines from 100-ton to 2000-ton capacity. We lock rams, install cylinder safety props, disconnect and label die cushions, pack progressive dies separately with VCI, and fabricate heavy-duty steel skids for each press matched to its specific weight distribution.

Injection Moulding Cells

Complete injection moulding production cells including the machine, mould temperature controllers, auto-loaders, conveyors, and robots. We pack moulds with VCI to prevent rust, separate hydraulic and water lines with corresponding colour-coded labels, and crate each cell as a matched set.

Tanks, Vessels & Process Piping

Storage tanks, reactor vessels, heat exchangers, and associated piping systems. Internals receive VCI fogging for corrosion protection. Nozzles get blind flange seals. Pipe spools are labeled with ISO isometric drawing references. Gaskets and bolts are bagged and tagged to their corresponding flange.

Electrical Panels & Control Rooms

MCC panels, PLC cabinets, HMI stations, SCADA systems, and cable trays. All connections are photographed, labeled with heat-shrink markers, and documented in a cable schedule. Panels are wrapped with anti-static VCI and packed in vibration-dampened crates to protect sensitive relays, contactors, and circuit boards.

Conveyor Systems & Material Handling

Belt conveyors, roller conveyors, overhead chain systems, and AGVs. We disassemble into transportable sections, individually protect drive motors and gearboxes with VCI, label every section with reassembly sequence numbers, and provide a reassembly guide with photographs.

Our Factory Relocation Process

  1. Pre-Move Factory Audit: Our project manager walks every meter of your factory floor. We create a complete inventory of every machine, panel, pipe run, and ancillary. Each item gets a unique BENZ relocation code. We photograph the as-built layout, cable routing, and piping connections — this becomes the reinstallation reference bible
  2. Sequenced Disassembly Plan: We plan the disassembly sequence in reverse-installation order. The last machine to be reinstalled at the new factory is the first one packed. This ensures containers are unloaded in the correct reinstallation sequence — eliminating chaotic warehouse staging at the destination
  3. On-Site Packing (20+ Crew): BENZ deploys a full packaging crew of 20+ trained personnel. Each crew member is assigned a specific zone of the factory. All materials — ISPM-15 timber, VCI paper/film, barrier film, desiccants, foam, strapping — arrive pre-staged at your facility. Packing proceeds zone by zone with daily progress reporting
  4. Sequential Labeling System: Every crate, pallet, and loose item is labeled with: (a) BENZ relocation code, (b) destination zone on the new factory layout, (c) reinstallation sequence number, (d) weight, (e) handling instructions, and (f) QR code linking to digital packing photographs and cable schedules. This system allows ANY reinstallation crew — even one unfamiliar with the original factory — to reassemble correctly
  5. Container Loading & Manifest: We plan container loading to maximize volume utilization while respecting weight limits and stacking restrictions. A detailed container loading plan is prepared showing the exact position of every crate. The manifest cross-references every crate to its relocation code, machine serial number, and destination zone
  6. Documentation Handover: Complete relocation documentation package: master inventory, packing photographs (12+ angles per machine), cable schedules, pipe connection diagrams, reinstallation sequence guide, container loading plans, and weight certificates. Delivered digitally and in hard copy

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How long does it take to pack an entire factory for relocation?

Depends on factory size. A 20-machine CNC shop with panels and conveyors typically takes 7–12 working days with a 20-person crew. A full automotive press shop with 8 presses, die storage, and conveyors takes 15–25 days. We provide a detailed project timeline during the pre-move audit — the schedule accounts for production wind-down, utility disconnection, and loading logistics.

Q: Do you handle only packaging or also transport?

BENZ focuses on the packaging and documentation scope. For transport, we coordinate with your logistics partner or recommend our network of verified heavy-haulage transporters. We supervise the loading process and provide the container/truck loading plan. For international shipments, we coordinate with freight forwarders and CHA (customs house agents) on your behalf.

Q: How do you ensure machines can be reinstalled in the right order?

Our sequential labeling system assigns a reinstallation sequence number to every crate. The last machine in the reinstallation sequence is loaded first into the container (and therefore unloaded last). The first machine to be installed is loaded last (unloaded first). This LIFO approach, combined with destination zone marking, eliminates the chaos of random unloading.

Q: Can you relocate a factory internationally?

Yes. International factory relocations require additional considerations: ISPM-15 wood treatment for all crates, DGFT export documentation, customs bonding for re-import scenarios, and destination country import regulations. We have supported factory relocations from India to Vietnam, Bangladesh, Ethiopia, Mexico, and the UAE.

Q: How do you handle loose items — tools, jigs, fixtures, consumables?

All loose items are inventoried, photographed, bagged/tagged, and packed into clearly labeled "loose items" crates organized by destination zone. Precision tools and gauges get individual VCI-protected foam inserts. Fasteners, gaskets, and small parts are sorted into compartmented boxes with contents lists. Nothing ships without a label — our target is zero "mystery boxes" at the destination.

Why Our Certifications Mean You Can Ship Anywhere Without Rejection

Every certification BENZ holds has a direct commercial consequence for your shipment. Here is exactly what each one means for your business:

AUTO OEM

BMW TL 8135-0043 & VW TL 8135

These are German Federal BWB-origin VCI performance standards. Any Tier-1 supplier shipping to BMW plants in Munich, Leipzig, Spartanburg, or Shenyang, or to VW/Audi/Skoda/Porsche/Lamborghini plants worldwide, MUST use TL 8135-certified packaging or face immediate parts rejection. BENZ is pre-approved — your parts clear their incoming quality gate automatically.

AUTO OEM

Daimler DBL 6735

Mercedes-Benz's proprietary packaging specification covering all inbound logistics across their global network (Sindelfingen, Bremen, Tuscaloosa, Pune). DBL 6735 compliance means your BENZ-packed parts will never be quarantined at a Mercedes dock for non-conforming packaging.

AUTO OEM

GM GMW 16700 & Volvo Group

General Motors' global packaging standard covers every GM, Chevrolet, Cadillac, and Buick plant. Volvo Group approval extends to Volvo Trucks, Mack, Renault Trucks, and UD Trucks globally. One BENZ pack satisfies 6 automotive brands simultaneously.

DEFENCE

MIL-PRF-3420 (US DoD QPL)

The United States Department of Defense Qualified Products List standard for VCI packaging. Only QPL-listed materials are accepted for US military contracts. This means BENZ packaging is approved for defence exports to any NATO country and DRDO/Indian defence procurement without additional qualification rounds.

DEFENCE

MIL-STD-2073

The US military's master standard for packaging of supplies and equipment. Compliance means BENZ understands military preservation levels — from Method 10 (bare) to Method 50 (waterproof, vapor-proof). Your defence equipment gets the exact preservation level the contract specifies.

QUALITY

ISO 9001:2015 & ISO 14001:2015

Dual ISO certification means every BENZ packaging operation follows audited, repeatable processes. ISO 14001 specifically guarantees environmental compliance — critical when your buyer's ESG auditor asks how their supply chain handles packaging waste.

EXPORT

ISPM-15 Heat Treatment

All BENZ wooden crates and pallets are heat-treated at 56°C for 30 minutes per FAO International Standard. Without the ISPM-15 stamp, your wooden crate will be rejected at any international port — USA, EU, Australia, Japan. BENZ wood clears customs in 190+ countries automatically.

CHEMISTRY

Propatech VCI (Italian Patent) & TRGS 615

BENZ uses patented Italian Propatech VCI chemistry that is 100% free from nitrites, secondary amines, and heavy metals. This guarantees automatic TRGS 615 compliance (German worker safety) and REACH compliance (EU chemical regulation). Your parts can enter the EU without triggering SVHC substance alerts.
