The Same Chemistry Comes in Very Different Packages
“Desiccant” covers a sachet you can hold between two fingers and a one-kilogram pole that hangs from a container ceiling. The chemistry inside — silica gel, activated clay or calcium chloride — matters, but so does the format and size, because that is what decides whether the desiccant fits the pack, sits where the moisture is, and is easy to install at scale. Choosing the wrong size is a common, quiet cause of under- or over-protection.
Small sachets (1–10 g) protect the air in a single carton, blister or instrument case. Larger bags (25–1000 g) protect crates and palletised goods. Container formats — hanging bags, chains, poles and blankets — protect the whole box and clip to the corrugation or door bars. BENZ supplies the full ladder so the format is matched to the enclosure, and the quantity to the DIN 55474 load.
