Measure maximum packed L, W and H including skids and protrusions. Plan how the free volume will be closed: heat seal, tape or other method the packing team actually uses. VCI needs a practical enclosure, not a bag left open on a dirty wet part. Photos help for irregular machines. Common failure modes: bagging wet dirty metal; leaving free volume open; using plain PE when corrosion is the risk; ordering barrier film when VCI free volume was the real need, or the reverse. Fix cleanliness, closure and dimensions before debating film brands.

Yes. VCI is not a substitute for dirty, wet metal or an open bag. Close free volume as the packing method requires and keep surfaces reasonably clean and dry before bagging.
