How does VCI Corrosion Protection Work?

The chemical agent in the VCI Film is anchored in the carrier material using a special process known as Extrusion or Impregnation. After the components are packed in VCI Film or VCI Paper, the VCI molecules start to accumulate in the protective atmosphere inside the packaging. Once the accumulation is done, the VCI molecules settle on the metal surface. This means that VCI molecules even settle on hard-to-reach surfaces such as bores, internal threads, folds, etc. Corrosion on metallic parts is an electrochemical process that occurs under the influence of oxygen and moisture in an accelerated environment. The VCI molecules settled on the surface of metallic components interrupt electrochemical corrosion reactions.
