How is export crating different from a domestic crate?
Domestic crates often omit ISPM-15 wood, multi-week condensation control, voyage-level anchoring and multipoint handling design. Export or seaworthy crating adds those requirements plus marking and documentation expected in ocean trade.
Does a wooden export crate alone make packing seaworthy?
No. The crate addresses structure and handling. Seaworthy packing also needs moisture control, corrosion protection for metal, correct restraint, marks and documents. Timber strength does not stop container rain or salt-driven corrosion.

What are heat treated export crates?
Heat treated export crates are solid wood packaging treated to ISPM-15 heat treatment requirements and marked with the IPPC mark so phytosanitary inspectors can verify compliance. Heat treatment addresses pest risk in wood packaging material; it does not by itself guarantee structural adequacy or corrosion protection.
Do ISPM-15 export crates need VCI and desiccant?
Often yes for bare metal machinery. ISPM-15 makes solid wood packaging acceptable for international phytosanitary control. VCI protects metal chemistry. Barrier and desiccant manage humidity and container condensation. All three layers solve different risks.
When should I use a closed case instead of an open crate?
