Export packing sequence that survives audit
1. Survey. Mass, centre of gravity, metal list, plating, cavities, ESD rules, residual fluids, hold days at origin, terminal dwell expectation, ocean weeks, destination storage.
2. Clean gate. No free water, no process residue at seal. Cold metal entering warm halls must dry fully before bag close. Dirty seal under any film traps corrosion chemistry.
3. Free volume. Close multimetal VCI film or paper free volume on critical bare faces. Use emitters or interleave where wrap cannot reach cavities. Stretch film unitises; it does not replace sealed free volume on bare metal.
4. Ocean humidity design. When sealed life includes multi-week ocean humidity, add aluminium barrier free volume and sized desiccant with VCI. Count plant + warehouse + terminal + ocean + destination days in sealed life.
5. Structure. Skid, open crate or closed case engineered to mass and handling. Solid wood elements treated and marked under ISPM-15 where the destination enforces the standard. Immobilise the unit so free volume does not tear in motion.
6. Marks and documents. Handling symbols, mass, orientation, kit IDs, packing list, method note, certificates and SDS as required by the RFQ. Photo record for high-value units.
