Textile Machinery Packaging

A spinning frame or loom is not one precision assembly, it is hundreds of identical ones, spindles, healds, reeds, sinkers and drafting rollers repeated across a machine that can run several metres wide, and a single damaged row means a rebuild before the line can run. Its control cabinets are also built for a lint-heavy mill floor, not a shipping container, and stay vulnerable to dust and moisture until sealed. BENZ protects both realities on every textile machine we pack.

The challenge

One machine, hundreds of identical fine parts, all exposed at once.

A ring spinning frame carries hundreds of spindles down its length, a loom carries a full set of healds and a reed across its working width, and a circular knitting machine carries a cylinder of fine needles and sinkers, each a small, exposed, precision part repeated many times over. Standard crating that protects a machine's frame does nothing for these; a shifted crate wall or an unbraced overhang can bend a row of spindles or crack heald wires that then have to be replaced one by one before the line runs at full width again.

The second exposure is electronic. Textile machines run electronic controllers, drive boards and sensors designed to work inside a mill's own dust and humidity control system, not inside a sealed container where condensation cycles daily as the box heats and cools. Left unsealed, that same board arrives corroded or lint-fouled on a machine that never left the crate. BENZ braces the fine, repeated components along the machine's full working width and seals control cabinets and electronics separately, in addition to the standard VCI and moisture barrier protection every machine gets.

How we pack a textile machine

Every fine part braced, every board sealed

Brace spindles, healds, reeds and needles

Spindle rails, heald frames, reeds, sinkers or needle cylinders are individually braced or foam-slotted along the machine's full working width so no row of fine, repeated parts can flex, bend or crack under transit shock.

Seal control cabinets and electronics

Controller boards, drives and sensor modules are sealed in moisture-barrier bagging with desiccant, separate from the general machine wrap, because condensation inside a shipping container is a daily cycle over a multi-week voyage, not a one-time event.

Preserve rollers, bearings and shafts

Drafting rollers, drive shafts and exposed bearing surfaces are degreased, rust-preventive coated and given VCI vapour-phase protection to MIL-PRF-3420H.

Crib the full width, skid and crate

Support is engineered across the machine's true working width, not just its heaviest sections, and the assembly is mounted on an engineered skid inside a heat-treated ISPM-15 crate sized to the machine's real footprint.

Frequently asked

Textile machinery packaging: questions

How do you pack a spinning or weaving machine for export?

We brace spindles, healds, reeds or needle cylinders along the machine's full working width, seal control cabinets and electronics in moisture-barrier bagging with desiccant, preserve rollers and bearings with rust preventive and VCI, then crib the full width and mount the assembly on an engineered skid inside a heat-treated ISPM-15 crate.

How do you protect hundreds of spindles or healds on one machine?

They are braced as a set along the machine's full working width using foam slotting or purpose-built restraint bars, not left to a single generic wrap, so a shock at one point of the crate cannot bend or crack the repeated fine parts running down the length or width of the frame.

Why do textile machine control cabinets need extra sealing?

Because their electronics are designed for a controlled mill environment, not a shipping container where daily heating and cooling causes condensation cycles over the voyage. We seal cabinets and boards separately with moisture-barrier bagging and desiccant so they arrive dry.

Do you pack looms, spinning frames and knitting machines differently?

Yes. Looms centre on heald and reed protection across the working width, spinning frames on spindle rail and drafting system bracing, and knitting machines on needle cylinder and sinker protection, each braced to its own exposed components.

Do you pack textile machinery on site at the mill?

Yes. A BENZ team comes to your mill with tooling and lifting equipment and packs the machine on your floor, engineering the crate to the machine's real working width.

Are your textile machinery crates ISPM-15 compliant?

Yes. All solid-wood crating and skidding is heat-treated and ISPM-15 stamped, with the treatment certificate supplied for customs clearance without quarantine or fumigation.

Shipping a spinning, weaving or knitting machine?

Send the machine details or book an on-site survey. We brace every fine part and seal every cabinet before it travels.
